History

Located at the top of Côte du Petit-Bois (now Côte de la Terre-Forte), the residence, designed by architects Gravel and Lamontagne, comprises 23 rooms on two floors. The plans bear the project name: "CHÂTEAU MURDOCK".
It wasn't until 2001 that the house regained its vocation as a family residence, with new owner François Laflamme purchasing the house with his partner Serge Desgagné.

John Murdock

A businessman deeply involved in the city's development since the 1920s, Mr. Murdock's works and accomplishments are already part of Chicoutimi's annals. He was an alderman from 1926-1933.
Mr. Murdock died in 1963, and in 1965 the residence became the property of Mr. Charles-Simon Sirois. Several years later, it was bought by the City of Saguenay and became the home of non-profit organizations.
